Big news from our practice: Coghlan Psychotherapy is now Lift Lock Therapy, and we’ve moving into a new space at 3-260 Milroy Dr. here in Peterborough.

If you’ve worked with Evan, Emilie, Jeff, or Katie before, nothing about your care is changing. We have the same commitment to helping kids, teens, and parents thrive. The only difference is is the name on the door and the address you’ll plug into your phone.

Why the name change

We wanted a name that says something about where we practice, not just who founded it. The Peterborough Lift Lock is one of the most recognizable landmarks in this city, a piece of engineering that raises boats up so they can keep moving forward. That’s a pretty fitting way to describe what happens in a good therapy session with a child, teen, or parent/guardian.

What’s staying exactly the same

  • The clinicians. Evan Coghlan (MACP, RP, Clinical Director), Emilie Inzana (MACP, RP, Qualifying), Jeff Waplak (MA, RP), and Katie Mulligan (MSW, RSW) are all still here, seeing the same clients for the same services: counselling for kids, counselling for teens, counselling for parents and guardians.
  • The values. We are still focused on going in with a game plan, including all the players, and playing our parts with passion. This way the most important people get the most important information to fully support kids and teens.
  • In-person and virtual options. We’re still serving Peterborough and the surrounding communities, including Lindsay, Lakefield, Havelock, Norwood, Omemee, and the rest of the Kawartha region, plus virtual appointments across Ontario.
  • Your existing appointments. If you have a session scheduled, it stays exactly where it is.

Why we’re excited about the move

A new space means we get to help more families! Our new space has lots of natural light, and more room to serve kids, teens, and parents in the Peterborough area. That means more room for play-based therapy, more privacy for teens who need to know a session is genuinely their own, and a layout that feels calm the moment a family walks in.

It also gives us room to grow into what’s next. A new location means we can keep expanding what we offer without outgrowing our space.
