About Lift Lock Therapy
Evan Coghlan, MACP, RP
Clinical Director
Building a great relationship with your kids benefits both of you for the rest of your lives.
If you have kids, you know that nothing can quite prepare you for the significance, joy, and confusion that comes along with being a parent. You experience higher highs and lower lows, and constantly face unexpected challenges along the way. Sometimes it feels like nothing you try will ever work. The truth? Having someone in your corner through the hard parts makes it easier to get to the other side.
Evan founded Lift Lock Therapy because being a parent has brought him some of the greatest joys and challenges of his life. He became a therapist to be that person for other parents and guardians.
“The primary goal of parenting is to build a thriving relationship with your kids because if the relationship lasts forever, so do the rewards.”
Our name is a nod to the Peterborough Lift Lock, where boats rise to the next level to keep going. It fits how we think about our work with families. When one person rises, the whole family rises with them.
That’s why parent involvement is central to how we work. We give your child or teen space to process what they’re going through, using play therapy and other proven clinical methods. At the same time, we give you practical ideas for what comes up at home, like managing tantrums, screen time, and discipline. We also collaborate with doctors, teachers, and others in your child’s circle when it helps.
Over time, what felt stuck starts to move. What felt heavy starts to lift. We’re here for you through it all.

We Go In With A Game Plan
Every meeting, phone call, and session is intentional, with decisions made in your kid's best interest.

We Play Our Parts With Passion
We dive deep into training, supervision, and learning so we can bring the best of what we offer to you.

We Include All The Players
We loop in parents, doctors, teachers, and others (while respecting privacy)to hear every perspective and find what works best.
What Makes Us Different
Our Approach
How Our Therapy Works
Step 1: We get to know you
Through an initial phone call or parent counselling session, we gather what we need before we start working with your kids.
Step 2: We work with your kids
We help children understand themselves and develop new ways of approaching the challenges they face.
Step 3: We keep you in the loop
